Definition
The Center for International Arts Management - CIAM for short - has several tasks and objectives:
- Planning and organizing the four semester M.A. programme for International Arts Management.
- Planning and organizing congresses, workshops and conferences geared to the further education of those working in art and culture (and their related sectors). Topics center around art and cultural studies, art and economics, art and law, art and society and art and politics. Whenever possible, events are carried out in cooperation with other institutes from art-related fields. A participation fee is usually required.
- Serving research and development projects related to Ph.D.-granting policies, university curricula, and the close connection between hands-on experience and CIAM’s mission of strengthening the effective range of art in society. CIAM also pursues projects involving documentation, publication, information collection, and the sharing of network experience. In addition, CIAM has its own publication series and collaborates with other publications.
The boundaries separating CIAM’s three fields of activity are not hard and fast. Each is connected to the other through teaching, professional experience, and research.
